Dr. Shapiro retired from Simon Fraser University in 1999, having served as Professor of Marketing (1980-1999) and Dean of Business (1987-97). Between 1998 and 2005, he was a member of the Academic Council of the Open University of British Columbia. Just before joining Acsenda’s Academic Council, Dr. Shapiro served for six years on the Province of British Columbia’s Degree Quality Assessment Board. During his career he has conducted numerous evaluations of university BBA, MBA and Ph.D. programs.
Prior to joining Simon Fraser University, Dr. Shapiro was a Professor of Marketing (1967-1980) and Dean of Business (1973-1978) at McGill University. He had earlier taught at the Wharton School for three years before entering industry. Dr. Shapiro has also been a Visiting Professor at Queen’s University, Bentley College and Royal Roads University. After retirement, he taught one of the first entirely “online” MBA I level marketing courses.
