Dr. Maloud Shakona is a lecturer of Hospitality & Tourism Management at the International School of Hospitality & Tourism Management at the Vancouver, Canada campus of Fairleigh Dickinson University and an adjunct faculty at the University of Canada West. Dr. Shakona is originally from Libya. He received his Ph.D. in Tourism Management from Clemson University, and his Masters in International Banking and Finance from the University of Salford, U.K.. and he received his Bachelor of Accounting from The University of Azzawia, Libya. He was previously a lecturer of finance at The University of Azzawia in Libya and an adjunct faculty at Clemson University, U.S.A.
His research areas of interest focus on sustainable tourism development, leisure behavior of ethnic and racial minorities and their leisure constraints. He is also interested in cultural and sports event management and their financial impacts on the local community.
Dr. Shakona’s professional experience includes working as an accountant in multiple commercial companies in Libya. As Marketing and Communication Manager at Osher Lifelong Learning Institute in Clemson SC, U.S.A. and a Restaurant Manager for both fast food and fine dining restaurants in the United States
